Steve Martin
In the early 1970s, Steven Martin began doing stand-up, focusing on being zany and absurd, rather than the political work that characterized most stand-up of the day. With punchlines like "excuuuse me" and his "arrow through the head" prop, Martin instincts were right. He made an impact both in sold-out concert halls and in albums like Let's Get Small (1977). Martin soon became a favorite guest host for Saturday Night Live, and holds the highest number of appearances as host to date (14).
