Retha Jones

RETHA JONES, a native of Los Angeles, had a childhood dream to become an Olympic Track and Field athlete. She ran track with some of the world's most famous women athletesValerie Brisco (Hooks), Florence Griffith (Joyner). Retha began her career in show business as a runway model. She participated in "A MODEL'S MEDIA- Model of the Year Awards" in Los Angeles where she was awarded the All American Model of the Year in 1982.

Later, Retha decided put all her focus on acting. She appeared in theater productions such as "Medea", and "The Colored Museum", a 50 city tour with America's number one black stage play, "Shelly Garrett's Beauty Shop". She has also appeared film roles such as The Nutty Professor, For Da Love of Money, and CB4.

After some persuasion from her friends and cast mates, Retha decided to pursue stand up comedy. She has since been literally tickling funny bones across America having made appearances on UPN's "Live in Hollywood", Telemundo's "QUE LOCO", Comedy Central's TOMPKINS SQUARE, the JENNY JONES SHOW "All Woman Comedy Special", HBO's DEF COMEDY JAM and Comedy Central's POLITICALLY INCORRECT (1996) and several appearances on BET's "COMIC VIEW." Retha is also featured by the LA Times as one of the comics to watch.

Retha's other projects include a featured appearance on Lifetime Channel's STRONG MEDICINE, and a starring role in the independent film, "MY BIG PHAT HIP HOP FAMILY" starring Reynaldo Rey.
