Latinologues
Latinologues is a collection of sharply funny and observant monologues about the Latino experience in North America. It was created, written, directed and produced for stage by Rick Najera, a veteran of groundbreaking shows such as MAD TV and In Living Color. Najera's intent for the showcase was to meet the demand of Latino actors hungering to share their comedic talent. "So many times we're seen as serious and dramatic but not funny, and comedy is universal," said Najera.
The revue has launched the professional careers for dozens of Latino actors, providing training and education in the process. More than seventy different actors have performed in the rotating cast, including stars such as Eugenio Derbez, Edward James Olmos, Cynthia Klitbo, Erik Estrada, Geraldo Rivera, Christina, Maria Conchita Alonso, Jacob Vargas, Mario Lopez, Tony Plana, Cristian De La Fuente, Fernando Carrillo, Rene Lavan, Yareli Arizmendi and dozens others.
Latinologues has played to sold-out shows for years in such cities as San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, San Antonio, Houston, Las Vegas, Houston, and Miami. It headlined Showtime's Latino Laugh Festival with an all-star cast, HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival, The Big Stinkin' Comedy Festival in Austin and Dallas' Festival of Independent Theaters, where it was named "Most Daring Production".
